Traveling to the UK You are allowed to arrive in the UK before your course begins: - Up to 1 week before your course starts if it lasts 6 months or less. - Up to 1 month before your course starts if it lasts more than 6 months. You must not travel to the UK earlier than the start date stated on your visa, regardless of when your course begins. Fees for a UK Student Visa - The cost to apply for a Student Visa from outside the UK is £490. - The cost to extend or switch to a Student Visa from inside the UK is also £490. - A visa fee is required for each dependent (partner or children) accompanying you. Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) You are required to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge as part of your visa application. The amount depends on the duration of your visa.
